MODULE 5: FOOD WALK
Introduction:
The fifth module of the Social Connect and Responsibility subject of the 3rd semester Engineering course conducted by the CSE department of Proudha Devaraya Institute of Technology is the Food Walk. In this program, all the students prepared food and learned about the importance of food by serving all the students and teachers.
Importance of Food:
Food is essential for our survival and well-being. It provides us with the necessary nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to keep our bodies healthy and functioning properly. A healthy and balanced diet is crucial for maintaining good health and preventing chronic diseases. However, food is not just important for our physical health but also for our social and emotional well-being.
Learning about Food:
The Food Walk module provided an opportunity for the students to learn about the importance of food and the different practices involved in preparing it. The students learned about the importance of choosing healthy and nutritious ingredients and the different cooking methods that can be used to enhance the flavor and nutritional value of food.
The students also learned about the importance of food safety and hygiene. They learned about the different foodborne illnesses and the measures that can be taken to prevent them. They also learned about the proper storage and handling of food and the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen.
Serving Food:
As part of the Food Walk module, the students prepared a variety of dishes and served them to all the students and teachers. This provided an opportunity for the students to showcase their culinary skills and learn about the different tastes and preferences of their peers.
The food walk also provided a platform for the students to appreciate the diversity of food and culture. The students had the opportunity to taste different dishes from different regions and learn about the unique ingredients and cooking methods used in those regions.
Benefits of Food Walk:
The Food Walk module had numerous benefits for the students and teachers. Conclusion:
